As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of mission-critical services in a cloud-native environment, build scalable APIs, and operate the systems you help design. If you enjoy autonomy, accountability, and solving complex engineering problems - this role is designed for you.

What You’ll Do

Own Services End-to-End
Design, build, deploy, and operate backend services using TypeScript and Node.js—owning architecture, production readiness, and on-call.

Work in a Domain-Focused Squad
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and operational teams in a cross-functional, high-velocity delivery environment.

Build Reliable, Scalable APIs
Design workflow-driven services with strong testing, observability, SLAs, and performance in mind.

Be a Technical Leader
Act as the go-to engineer in your domain—providing mentorship, shaping best practices, and driving continuous improvement.

Partner with the Business
Communicate clearly with non-technical teams to explain system behaviour and support operational needs.

  • You’re comfortable in distributed, cloud-native environments and know how to debug using logs, tracing, and observability.

  • AWS Serverless (Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, API Gateway, S3)

  • C#
  • ECS Fargate
  • Document databases
  • Regulated or financial industries
  • Mentoring or line-management
  • Structured on-call environments

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Strong experience using a statically typed or strongly typed language
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating backend services in production
  • Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider
  • Strong understanding of API design, testing, performance, and observability
  • Experience with distributed systems
  • Willingness to join an on-call rotation

Nice-to-Have

  • Node.js + TypeScript experience
  • Serverless architecture exposure
  • MongoDB or other document database experience
  • Background in regulated or financial environments
